Back From France

FranceJuliette and I are back from France, but just barely. We woke up on Sunday morning to discover that it was now daylight savings time and we had one hour less to get to the airport than we expected.  We raced out of the hotel to the train station and tried to get tickets, but the machines didn’t accept our credit cards and there was no-one at the ticket booths on a Sunday.  Finally we found an open ticket booth and caught the train.

When we arrived at the airport, it was crowded beyond belief and it took us forever to walk through all of the terminals to our terminal where we found the Air Canada line stretching from one end of the hall to the other!  It turns out that the flight hadn’t even left Toronto and everything was chaos.  Juliette had to catch her Air France flight, so I kissed her goodbye and stood in line.

Eventually things were sorted and I several hours later I was on a bus to an airport hotel.  The flight was rescheduled several times, so I never managed to get out of the hotel, or much sleep either and eventually headed back to the airport the next day to catch the flight.  After several mishaps later, the flight was finally airborne and I was on my way back to Canada.  It was just in time too, today France was brought to a halt by a national general strike.

Juliette and I had a wonderful time and it was great to see her parents and spend time with Bob and Frankie who were great hosts.  We skied, snowshoed, hiked and explored followed by great food, wine and company.  I have uploaded the photos, but they are not quite in order and they don’t have captions yet.  There are nearly 300 after I paired them down, so approach with caution.
